EXCERPT: "M. V. Ramana, a professor of public policy with a focus in nuclear power at the University of British Columbia, said nuclear power is not the solution when renewable power sources are becoming cheaper and more advanced.

"A larger nuclear power plant makes a little bit more economic sense from the viewpoint of how much electricity you're generating, the cost per electricity. However, it doesn't make sense from the viewpoint of how much initial upfront cost you have to put in," Ramana said.

He said he has a lot of questions about the cost of the project and what safety concerns were considered.

"Announcements are easy to make. Building a nuclear power project is going to be much, much, much, much harder," Ramana said. . . . "
