Honorable Mr. Jack Layton,
Leader, New Democratic Party of Canada

Ok. Congratulations, maybe!

But this may turn out to be a hollow victory unless Canada stops its nuclear agenda which is contaminating itself and the world with deadly nuclear radiation released from the entire nuclear chain which is being fed by Saskatchewan Uranium.

The Conservatives are probably jumping with joy since now the new legislation makes it more urgent to meet the challenge. Therefore they will argue that nuclear is the only way the law can be kept! Thus the legislation will be co-opted.

I suspect Harper and his gang have been working on this strategy for some time. Linda Keen's demise was no accident. In case you have not heard, the Conservatives Government has just revamped CNSC which, according to the new President, now views itself as the national & international advocate for nuclear technology and for (the so-called), clean electricity from nuclear reactors.

See President Michael Binder's address in Power Point format to the Canadian Nuclear Society's Annual Conference:

http://www.nuclearsafety.gc.ca/eng/news ... onto_e.pdf

President Binder's presentation outlined the drivers behind the current "nuclear renaissance", the future direction of the CNSC, and how the CNSC is positioning itself to meet the challenges of a growing nuclear industry in Canada. The theme of the 2008 Conference was Sustainable Development through Nuclear Technology.

Canadians need to wake up to the stark reality of a nuclear nightmare for future generations if we do not stop this nuclear madness.

Mr. Layton, how do you propose to protect future generations from a nuclear nightmare which, I should say, is already upon us and will only get worse if we continue to spiral down the nuclear black hole?

Don’t hold your breath...

It’s been done by the same kind of folks who did not accomplish anything when they had the chance to make a difference.

I rather look to the ones in power who do something real while they can, albeit not as much or as fast as we like it, e.g. Merkel in Germany, Schwarzenegger in CA, Campbell in BC, Charest in QB…

....as long as this doesn't mean that we get 'nukes' instead - congratulations, Mr. Layton!

Way to go!!

NDP makes ‘Canada First in the World’ on climate change

http://www.ndp.ca/page/6487#video

Jack Layton, NDP Leader On Wednesday, Parliament made history with the adoption of Jack Layton’s ‘Kyoto Plus’ bill (Bill C-377), making Canada the first in the world to commit to cutting greenhouse gases by 80%, from 1990 levels, by 2050. Try as they did – Harper’s Conservatives couldn’t stop Jack Layton’s ‘Kyoto Plus’ bill from being passed. Kudos are coming in from around the world for Layton’s forward-thinking bill.
